Last Year’s Prayers

I can’t recall her name
Just a face within a frame
A test of weakened wills
The needs that she fulfills
they pale to the way true love compares
Heaven help me, now I’m regretting last year’s prayers

And I don’t wanna hear your problems tonight
We could drown our sorrows in spite
Of the faithful we indict

When below becomes above
When lust aspires to love
And Reason’s at the door
It’s easy to ignore the voice
of the fool that’s led you wrong
Been deaf to the words and blind to the sights too long

And I don’t wanna hear your problems tonight
We could drown our sorrows in spite
Of the faithful we indict

She steals a glance, it’s cardiac
Bottles pain and sells it back
To the same who gave it away

I’m sick of all your problems
Mine, well they’re just the same as yours
But you’ll never hear me complain

So why can’t we put our dreams aside
And live our boring lives?
‘Cuz I miss the old girl in the frame
